About

The name of this space could just as easily have been named Nourish the Vision, or Nourish the Dream instead, since the same idea is conveyed. The vision, dream, or words that I'm concerned with nourishing are those given to us by our Creator. Anything given to us by that being, in whatever way that being gives it to us, is worthy of preservation, cultivation, and realization.

Written in this blog are my thoughts and opinions, driven by the way I see things, so I put no expectation on anyone who may come across this to believe what I think, unless they find a good reason to.

I believe in God. I believe that He has made Himself known since the beginning of time to various groups of people across the world, during specific moments in time when they were willing to listen and live His counsel, and able to be claimed as His. It makes sense to me, that time and our own misunderstanding would lead to conflict when these different groups would cross paths. It makes sense to me that when communication from God is understood in the pure context that it was originally given, that each of these groups could see they were taught and nurtured by the same God. I think it is His intention that when His teachings come together from different cultures, these things are meant to complement each other, and as witnesses of each other. I believe it has been ignorance and pride that has led to one culture dominating another instead. I think it's possible that the same sacred things are understood in different languages, different symbols, by different names, and different ceremonies, but all conveying the same similar ideas. It makes sense that some things that were lost to some cultures, may have been preserved in others, and that we have something we can learn from God everywhere His understanding remains. I hope for a time these can all be gathered together. It is with this outlook that I am studying what I can of the native North American people.

I am looking for witness in word and symbol, that we have been spoken to by the same God.

Further understanding and wisdom from readers is welcome and encouraged. Let us share and rejoice in the things we have received and do receive from God. Let us learn from each other.

I will be quoting from texts I consider sacred that can be downloaded for free from here: http://scriptures.info/Home/Downloads

"Know ye not that there are more nations than one? Know ye not that I, the Lord your God, have created all men and that I remember those who are upon the isles of the sea, and that I rule in the heavens above and in the earth beneath, and I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth? Wherefore murmur ye because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together, the testimony of the two nations shall run together also. And I do this that I may prove unto many that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever, and that I speak forth my words according to mine own pleasure." Book of Mormon (Restoration Edition), 2 Nephi 12:9

"Behold, he sendeth an invitation unto all men; for the arms of mercy are extended towards them, and he saith, Repent and I will receive you. Yea, he saith, Come unto me and ye shall partake of the fruit of the tree of life; yea, ye shall eat and drink of the bread and the waters of life freely.” RE Alma 3:6

“...come unto me and believe in my gospel and be baptized in my name.” RE Ether 1:19

* You may wonder at my use of quotes from the Book of Mormon along with other Christian scriptures. For a little bit of background, I am a former member of the "Mormon" church, but I no longer advocate for, or belong to any of the churches that claim the Book of Mormon as theirs. I do believe in what is taught in the book. I also believe truth is a gift God gives us that should be freely received and freely given. As such, it belongs to no specific group or person, except those who believe it and live according to it.
